Monday’s here, and I didn’t get anything done during the weekend. Except, well, rest and renewal, and the Writer’s Mixer at Cover to Cover on Saturday, which was AWESOME. If you ever get the chance to hear Ann Littlewood speak, do so. She’s a mystery writer who used to be a zookeeper and technical writer (not necessarily in that order, I think) and she’s big into conservation issues. Also, she’s a fun, fun presenter, and her writing advice was low-bullshit, easily-understandable, and very very practical. Not to mention funny.
She read a little bit from her first book, Night Kill, out now. I liked her use of crows cawing and branches rattling to set the tone, and I found the excerpt well-crafted.
This might be a good time for me to announce that I’m going to be the presenter at the next Writer’s Mixer, in March at C2C. It’s going to be “Stump The Working Writer”–people can come and ask me questions about the writing life etc. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
Anyway, I’ve got errands to run and housecleaning to do, and a pesky Watcher and witch to get into more trouble. Off I go.
